About the Cedar Lake Yacht Club
Established in 1934
Founded in 1934, the Cedar Lake Yacht Club was formed by local families who desired a private club to enjoy sailing as well as camaraderie on Cedar Lake. The CLYC has since become the home for generations of friends and families to enjoy the lake and our beautiful property. We pride ourselves on having the best view on the lake.
Our private facility consists of a club house, multiple acre yard, as well as a pier for members’ boats. Our membership maintains an active social calendar with member planned and hosted events. Our membership prides itself on being self sufficient and cooking some of the best food you’ll find anywhere.
The club’s membership now consists of both casual boaters and sailors. Some members are neither, but simply enjoy the camaraderie and amenities offered through membership. Regardless of reason for joining, all members are expected to volunteer and support our wonderful organization just as the founding members did.
The CLYC is active in scow sailing, hosting the infamous Ice Breaker regatta, annually hosting C Scow sailors from all over the Midwest. We are also a member of both the Inland Lakes Yacht Association (ILYA) and US Sailing. Promoting sailing and sailing on Cedar Lake has been our mission since 1934, and it continues to be our mission for the long term future.
